Sonia Magarida Couto
LOWELL Sonia Magarida (Costa) Couto, 36, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family.
Born January 1, 1980, in Lowell, she was a daughter of Manuel D. Costa of Lowell and the late Giselda M. (Silva) Costa, and was raised and educated in the local schools.
Sonia worked as a sales clerk in retail, and donated many hours of her time to volunteer with the House of Hope and worked in their Thrift Store.
She made her home in the Centralville Section of the City and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. Her life was dedicated to her two girls, Tatiana and Mikaela. She enjoyed traveling with them and spending time at the beach. In addition, spending time with her father was special to her as well as spending time attending the Holy Ghost Feasts.
In addition to her daughters, Tatiana Costa and Mikaela Costa both of Lowell, she is survived by her father, Manuel Costa of Lowell; her siblings, Manny S. Costa of Lowell, Fatima Costa of Lowell, Maria Luz Costa of New Beford, Delminda Cartier and her husband, Dan, of Goffstown, NH, John Costa and his wife, Danubia, of Port St. Lucie, FL, Maria Costa, and her boyfriend Joao Cardoso of Lowell, Sandra Schaffer and her husband, Steve, of Dracut, Diana Costa and her fiancee, Johneson Chou of Lowell, and Kevin Costa and his fiancee, Amie Silva, of Lowell; her nieces and nephews, Michelle Costa, Jonathan Costa, Joey Lyndsey, Jessica Santos, Krystal Santos, Jacob Cartier, Adrianna Cartier, Marcello Silva, Damien Costa, Jesileina Costa, Isaac Costa, Shawn Schaffer, Erick Costa, Ethan Costa, Charlize Costa Cruz, and Christopher Schaffer and Nicholas Schaffer; her great niece and nephew Giselda Dos Santos and Bayren Dos Santos; and her aunt Maria Silva of Peabody.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS 8 UNTIL 10 A.M. ON FRIDAY MORNING AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HER LIBERA PRAYERS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL ST., LOWELL AT 11. BURIAL IN WESTLAWN CEMETERY
