Leatrice A. ‘Lee’ Schaefer

DRACUT Leatrice A. ‘Lee’ (Knight) Schaefer, 91, of Dracut, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016 at D’Youville Health Care Center after a period of declining health. She was the widow of the late John Schaefer.
A daughter of John and Georgianna (Sweeney) Knight, she was born January 12, 1925, in Lowell, and grew up and was educated in the Westford School System. Lee was the baby of the family and was the youngest of 15, as a result, she liked to be spoiled.
For the past twenty one years, she made her home in Dracut, and had worked for Community Teamwork Inc. as a senior companion for more than twelve years. She had also worked for Tufts Insurance as an ambassador for more than ten years.
Lee adored her family, and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also loved to play Bingo and was a member of the Dracut Social Club and the Dracut Council on Aging and enjoyed taking part in their activities.
Her survivors include her children, Jeffrey Schaefer of Haverhill, and Mary Lacourse and her husband, Robert Lacourse Jr., of Dracut; her six grandchildren, Kelli Meehan and her husband, Carney, of Dracut, Brian and Michael Lacourse of Dracut, Joanne Martin of Dracut, John Schaefer of Nashua and Kathryn Schaefer of Dracut; her four great grandchildren, Johnny Meehan, Andrew, Jacob and Daniel Martin all of Dracut; her daughters in law, Maureen Schaefer and Annette Schaefer both of Dracut; her wonderful sister in law Shirley Schaefer and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late John P. Schaefer and the late Robert R. Schaefer.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at D'Youville Manor for all their care and compassion, She truly loved living there.

ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2016 YOU ARE INVITED TO HER MEMORIAL VISITATION FROM 4 UNTIL 6 P.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.

HER FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 6 P.M. FOLLOWING THE VISITATION.
