Lauretta M. O’Brien

"Loving Mother and Grandmother"

LOWELL Lauretta M. (Daigle) O’Brien, 78, of Lowell, died peacefully, Thursday, August 27, 2009, at Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, with her family by her side. She was the widow of the late Eugene E. "Gene" O’Brien who died August 23, 2006.

A daughter of the late Wilbrod and the late Clara (Lemieux) Daigle, she was born September 28, 1930, in Lowell, and attended St. Jeanne D’Arc School, and graduated from Lowell High School. She made her lifelong home in Lowell, and was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church where she was a member of St. Margaret’s Sodality. She also participated in several local bowling and cribbage leagues. She enjoyed the beach, especially Hampton Beach, as well as swimming and boating on Long Pond in Pelham, NH. She also enjoyed reading and home decorating. Lauretta spent most her lifetime raising her family and taking care of her home, but also worked in the courtesy booth at Demoulas in Chelmsford.

She is survived by four children, Linda M. Guruge of New Ipswich, NH, Karen A. Boutin and her husband, Jimmy, of Dracut, Cheryl A. McAnespie andher husband, Tom, of Dracut, and Shaun E. O’Brien and his wife, Eileen, of Waltham; five grandchildren, Jim Boutin of Dracut, Danielle Guruge and Matthew Guruge both of New Ipswich, NH, and Conor McAnespie and Owen McAnespie both of Dracut; two brothers, Norman Daigle and his wife, Catherine, of Dracut and Donald Daigle and his wife, Annette, of Tyngsboro; a sister in law, Mary Rose McDonald of Lewiston, ME; and many nieces and nephews.
