Laureano S. ‘Larry’ Estacio

 

LOWELL Laureano S. ‘Larry’ Estacio, 76, a Lowell resident, passed away after a brief illness, Friday, October 23, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary F. (Silva) Estacio, with whom he celebrated their Fifty Sixth Wedding Anniversary this past October 13.

 

A son of the late Laureano and the late Conceicao (Silviera) Estacio, he was born October 19, 1939, in Flores, Azores, Portugal, and grew up and was educated in Sao Miguel, Azores. He came to the United States in 1961, to join his wife, settling with his family in Lowell. He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. He worked for Interstate Container in Lowell for thirty four years, retiring as a superintendent.

 

Spending time with his family was his favorite past time and he especially enjoyed time outside his home with family and friends. He was a former President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Director of the Portuguese American Center, ‘the Blues Club’ where he enjoyed playing cards. In addition he enjoyed spending time in Boothbay Maine, as well as traveling world wide with his wife. Laureano was also one of the original owners of the Four Seasons Restaurant. An avid soccer fan, he was especially a supporter of the Portuguese Porto Soccer Team. Gardening was one of his hobbies, especially tending to his fig trees.

 

Besides his loving wife, Mary, he is survived by his son, Robert Estacio and his wife, Sharlene, of Lowell; his granddaughter, Courtney Estacio of Lowell; his grandson, Ryan Estacio of Lowell; and also his nieces, nephews and many friends.

 

He was also the father of the late Diane Estacio who passed away in June 2013 and was predeceased by his siblings, Adelaide Armas, Maria deJesus Sousa, Antonio Estacio, Jose Estacio, and Joao Estacio.

 

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25. ON MONDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL STREET, LOWELL AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY. MEMORIALS IN HIS NAME TO THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, CENTRALIZED MEMORIAL PROCESSING CENTER, 30 SPEEN ST., FRAMINGHAM, MA 01701-9376.
