Jose P. Faria Sr.

LOWELL Jose P. Faria, Sr., 68, of Lowell, died Thursday, November 15, 2012, at his home with his family by his side after a strong battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Delfina (Alves) Faria, with whom he would have celebrated their Forty Fourth Wedding Anniversary next month.

A son of the late Manuel S. and the late Irondina (Pacheco) Faria, he was born March 2, 1944, in Sao Miguel, Azores, and grew up and was educated there. Jose worked in construction and was in the military serving with the Portuguese Army until he came to the United States in February 7, 1969 to start his family.

He has lived in Lowell since 1969, originally settling in the Back Central Street Neighborhood.

Mr. Faria enjoyed traveling with his family, especially going to the beach and on cruises. He loved watching Benfica, his favorite soccer team. He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s church and a member of the Holy Ghost Trinity.

He had worked for Fujifilm, the former BASF in Bedford for twenty eight years before retiring.

In addition to his wife, Delfina, he is survived by his daughter, Lizete Faria and her husband, Kevin LaPointe, of Lowell; his sons, Jose P. Faria Jr. and his wife, Jessica, of Dracut, and, Liberto Faria and his fiancee, Tiffany Landry, of Hudson, NH; his grandaughters, Marissa LaPointe and Mikelah LaPointe both of Lowell, and Mackenzie Faria, Haylee Faria, and Madison Faria, all of Dracut; his sister, Luisa Soeiro of Canada; and several nieces and nephews including his special niece, Cremilda Ferriera of Canada.

He was also the brother of the late Eduarda Moreira.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 2 UNTIL 6 P.M. ON SUNDAY. ON MONDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL ST., LOWELL AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. JOSEPH CEMETERY.
