Antonio ‘do Refino’ Correia 
LOWELL       Antonio ‘do Refino’ Correia, 88, of Lowell, died Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Radius Northwood Health Care Center after a long illness with his family by his side.   He was the widower of the late Olinda (de Sousa) Correia who died in 2003.
      Born December 17, 1922, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, he was raised there and enjoyed farming and carpentry.  He married Olinda, and  came to the United States in 1965 to make a better life for his family.
      Mr. Correia made his home in the Back Central Street Neighborhood, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.
     A carpenter by trade, Antonio did carpentry and handyman work for anyone who needed it.   He loved working with wood and repairing and refurbishing items for his friends and family.  He also loved inventing things that would assist him with his handywork, going for walks, and making his own wine.
    He is survived by his son, Manuel S. Correia and his wife, Maria, of Tewksbury; his daughter, Maria R. Silva of Lowell; his grandchildren, Brian Correia and his wife Marissa (Ramos), of Pelham, NH, Matthew Silva and his wife, Danielle (Simmons), of Chelmsford, Andrea Greenfield and her husband, Daniel, of Sharon, and Erica Silva and her husband, David, of Lowell; his great granddaughters, Caroline Correia and Brianna Correia both of Pelham, NH; his sister, Argentina Catano of Graciosa; and several nieces and nephews.
     He was also the father of the late Joseph A. Correia and the late Leodoro Correia, and brother of the late Maria, Leonor, Manuel, Candido, Inocencia, and Alvero.
           YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 5 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON TUESDAY.   ON WEDNESDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.  HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY’S CHURCH AT 10 A.M..  BURIAL IN ST.
