Albert ‘Sonny’ Greenhalge
LOWELL Albert ‘Sonny’ Greenhalge, 76, a resident of the Highlands section of Lowell, died unexpectedly, November 17, 2012, at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus.
A son of the late Thomas and the late Emma (McMahon) Greenhalge, he was born May 24, 1936, in Lowell, and educated in the local schools.
Sonny made his lifelong home in Lowell, and worked as a paver in his families business for many years before working as a driver for Town Taxi. He was a responsible, dedicated, and faithful employee. He enjoyed sports, especially the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed dancing, singing, playing the guitar, and attending family gatherings.
Albert is survived by his longtime companion and soul mate, Barbara (Hanney) Deschene who never left his side, holding his hand overnight during his hospital stay until he passed. He is also survived by his step-children, Darlene Rodier of Litchfield, NH, Kimberly and David Thompson of Lowell, Laurie and Brian Rondeau of Lowell, Karen Coan of Lowell, and Kevin Deschene of Lowell; two grandchildren who Sonny adored, Cassidy Foley and Jake Rondeau; his brothers, Robert Greenhalge and his wife, Rose, of Lowell, Jackie Greenhalge of Lowell, Gerry Greenhalge and his wife, Eleanor, of Lowell; his sister, Mary Libera of Nashua, NH; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also a brother of the late Buddy Greenhalge, the late Phyliss Lutkus, and the late Alice Ward; his close nephew, Junior Lutkus; and stepfather of the late Gilbert Deschene, and the late Michelle Deschene.
