Evelyn M. Winters
LOWELL Evelyn M. (Cassidy) (Spinney) Winters, 90, of Lowell, died March 11, at Town and Country Nursing Home. She was the widow of the late William R. Winters.
Born March 1, 1918, in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late Charles and the late Hannah (Fitzpatrick) Cassidy, and was raised and educated in Lowell.
She made her home in the Flats Section of the City, growing up as a Mill Girl working in the area Mills until they closed. When the Boote Mill Museum was organized, Evelyn donated her original Mill Girl sewing kit to the Museum for display. She then worked for AVCO and later worked for Wang Laboratories until she retired.
A parishoner of the former St. Peter’s Parish, she was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and enjoyed reading and knitting.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda J. Silveria of Bradford; two sons, William R. Winters and his wife, Cheryl of Nashua, NH, and Robert E. Winters and his wife, Patricia, of Tewksbury; eleven grandchildren; Gayle, Kenny, Lisa, Debbie, Billy, Bonnie, Tracie, Leigh, Sarah, Jesse, Brian, six great grandchildren; Shane, Caleb, Tyler, Zachery, Laila, Siena, a sister, Ruth Santos of Lowell; a brother, James Cassidy of Petaluma, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Charles Kenneth Spinney, mother in law of the late David Silveria, and sister of the late Florence Travers, Lillian Chenard, Irene Spinney, Charles Cassidy, Joseph Cassidy, and Edward Cassidy.
