William M. Callery

BILLERICA William ‘Bill’ Callery, age 86, died peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2012, at Palm Manor Nursing Home after a period of declining health.

Born in Lowell on July 22, 1926, son of the late Michael and Katherine (Horgan) Callery, he attended Lowell Schools and graduated from Lowell High School before enlisting in the United States Army Air Corps in July 1944. He proudly served two tours, primarily in the South Pacific.

He returned to Lowell and married his great love, Mary (Carmody) in September, 1950, and together they raised four children in the Highlands. He was predeceased by Mary in August 2000. He worked as a Material Control Manager for Transonics in Burlington for thirty years before his retirement.

A communicant of St. Margaret’s Church. Bill’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Palm Manor Nursing Home, C Wing, for their love and caring support.

He leaves behind four children Marianne McArdle and her husband, Thomas, of North Oxfords, Susan Karabatsos and her husband, Lewis, of Lowell, and Judith Baldwin and her former husband, Jack, of Chelmsford, Michael Callery and his wife, Lisa (Crandall) of Lowell. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Farley of Hooksett, NH, and his brother, Warren Callery of Nashua, NH, and his brother in law and sister in law Thomas and Joyce Carmody of Jacksonville, FL., and his seven grandchildren, Sean M. McArdle and Ryan T. McArdle, Todd L. Karabatsos and his wife, Maureen (Jakiela), Evan L. Karabatsos, Conor M. Baldwin and his wife, Sandy (Boumel), Molly Katherine Callery and Delia Rose Callery and his great-granddaugher, McKenzie Baldwin as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was pre deceased by his brother and sister in law Paul and Virginia (Talty) Callery, sister in law Alice (Pariseau) Callery, and brother in law Jack Farley.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS VISITATION 8:30 UNTIL 10 A.M. ON FRIDAY MORNING, NOV. 30, AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MARGARET CHURCH, 374 STEVENS ST, LOWELL, AT 11:00 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. MARY CEMETERY TEWKSBURY. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, DONATIONS IN HIS NAME TO LOWELL GENERAL HOSPITAL CANCER CTR, C/O DEVELOPMENT OFFICE, 295 VARNUM AVE, LOWELL MA 01854.
