William L. ‘Billy’ Rogers


LOWELL William L. ‘Billy’ Rogers, 80, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017, at D’Youville Senior Health Care Center surrounded by his family. He was the beloved companion to Lorraine LeDoux for the past Forty years.


A son of the late Thomas F. and the late Mary R. (Weber) Rogers, he was born July 1, 1936, in Lowell, and educated in the local schools, graduating from Lowell Trade School.
Mr. Rogers made his lifelong home in Lowell, originally in the Highlands, and for the past 20 years, Pawtucketville. He was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church before more recently being a communicant of St. Rita Parish. He worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at Tewksbury State Hospital before becoming affiliated with the University of Massachusetts Campus Police Department at UMass Lowell, retiring after thirty five years of service.


Billy was a passionate Notre Dame Football fan as well as a fan of all the New England Sports Teams. He enjoyed spending time at his summer home in Alton Bay, NH, with Lorraine and his mother. He also cherished time spent with his family in Kennebunk, Maine traveling weekly to see them. In addition, he loved road trips, and loved the Pawtucketville neighborhood he lived in.


Besides his beloved Lorraine, he is survived by his siblings, George and Kethleen Rogers of Hollis, NH & Largo, FL, Charles and Margaret Rogers of Brookline, NH, and John and Elizabeth Rogers of Nashua, NH; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews


He was also a brother of the late Anna Krawcyzk, Paul Rogers, Edward Rogers, Helen Squeglia, Thomas Rogers, Francis Rogers, Gerald Rogers, and Clair Verzi


YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON THURSDAY.

ON FRIDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 10 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.

HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MARGARET PARISH, 374 STEVENS, LOWELL AT 11 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
