William 'Willie' Alvarado

Lowell Highlands Resident, Avid Red Sox Fan

LOWELL William 'Willie' Alvarado, 50, of Lowell, died unexpectedly after a brief illness with his family by his side, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the husband of Ely Rivera of Lowell.

Born October 14, 1961, in Comerio, Puerto Rico, he was a son of Juan Alvarado of Puerto Rico, and Joaquina Rivera of Lowell. Willie grew up and was educated in Puerto Rico before moving to Lowell in 1979 with his mother, Joaquina.

He resided in the Highlands section of the city, and was a communicant of St. Patrick Church. He previously worked for Dargoonian Brothers Farm in Andover, and more recently for King Printing in Lowell for many years. Willie enjoyed sports and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He loved singing, dancing, playing dominos and spending time with his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Ely Rivera, and his parents, Juan Alvarado and Joaquina Rivera; he is survived by his five daughters, Yajaira, Mariely, Cindy Alvarado, Brenda, and Marta; two sons, Luis and Julio Rosario; and three sisters, Elizabeth and Myriam Alvarado, and Dasmary Flores; and his two brothers in law Pin Torres and Angel Santiago. Willie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grand daughters, and friends.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 10:30 P.M. ON THURSDAY, MARCH 29. ON FRIDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 10 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
