Virginia M. Thompson

CHELMSFORD       Mrs. Virginia M. (Nagle) Thompson, of Chelmsord, a longtime former resident of the Highlands section of Lowell died May 22, 2017, at Fairhaven Nursing Home after a brief illness.  She was the loving wife of the late William F. Thompson II, who died November 29, 2000.

      Born in Lowell on April 22, 1930, the daughter of the late Patrick and the late Elizabeth (Sullivan) Nagle.  Virginia was lovingly cared for by her uncle and aunt, the late Daniel and Anna (Nagle) Emerson.  She attended St. Peter’s Grammar School and was a graduate of Keith Hall with the Class of 1949.

      In her earlier years, Virginia worked for the Lowell Uniform Company.  She was a communicant for many years of the former St. Peter's Church and St. Margaret Church of Lowell.  She was proud of her Irish Heritage and enjoyed her many trips to Ireland. She enjoyed spending time at the beach with her family. She was an avid reader and loved her coffee ice cream.

       Her survivors include her children, Neil P. Thompson of Lowell, V. Maria Thompson Gallant and her husband, Alfred Dias of Chelmsford, and Daniel O. Thompson and his wife, MaryBeth (Trouville) of Dracut; her daughter in law, Rosemary G. (Savard) Thompson of Lowell; her twelve grandchildren, William Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Shawn Thompson, Caitlyn Thompson, Devon Thompson, Neil Thompson and his wife, Janet, Michael Thompson and his wife, Amy, Sarah Gallant, Patrick Gallant, Michael Gallant, Daniel Thompson, and Katherine Thompson; her great grandchildren, Owen, Levi, Shea, Nolan, Amanda, and Shawn; as well as many nieces and nephews.

      She was predeceased by her son, William F. Thompson III, 2016, and her daughter, Mary C. Thompson, 1957; and her three sisters and brothers in law, Patricia and Joseph Griffin, Joan and Leo Mahoney, and Barbara Mulligan.

AT VIRGINIA’S REQUEST, THERE WILL BE NO CALLING HOURS. 

ON THURSDAY, MAY 25, 2017, YOU ARE INVITED TO HER FUNERAL MASS AT ST. PATRICK CHURCH, 282 SUFFOLK STREET, LOWELL AT 10 A.M.

BURIAL WILL TAKE PLACE AT ST. MARY CEMETERY IN TEWKSBURY. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, DONATIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE CHARITY OF YOUR CHOICE.
