Ronald J. ‘Ronnie’ Desmarais

LOWELL Ronald J. ‘Ronnie’ Desmarais, 76, a longtime Lowell resident, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Wingate at Belvidere after a courageous year long battle with illness. He was the beloved husband of Florence C. (McMeniman) Desmarais, with whom he would have celebrated their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary this coming May.

He was born in Lowell on October 7, 1940 and was a son of the late John and the late Myrtle (Dickenson) Desmarais. Ronnie was raised in Chelmsford, where he attended the area schools, graduating from Chelmsford High School.

Ronnie served with the United States Army and later with the United States Army Reserves serving his Country for a total of twelve years. He made his home in the Belvidere section of Lowell and was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church. He worked as a printer for Prince Packaging for twenty-two years before becoming affiliated with LoMedCo as a medical repair technician for more than ten years before his retirement.

Mr. Desmarais enjoyed wood carving, trivia, sudoko, and also enjoyed watching Jeopardy and any type of mind games as he was very smart and enjoyed challenges. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor.

In addition to the love of his life, Florence, he is survived by two sons, Michael W. Desmarais of Lowell and David J. Desmarais and his wife, Sandra of Dracut; his daughter, Anne M. Desmarais of Tewksbury; his grandchildren, Austin and Shana, Crystal, Tara, Jennifer, and Tabitha; and their mother, Donna Desmarais of Lowell. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Anthony Arianna, Ava, Ella, and Colin; his brother, Richard Desmarais of Lowell; his niece, Stacy and his nephew, Richard Jr. and his sisters in law, Betrice McKeown of Lowell and Susan Stecchi of Lowell.

He was also the brother of the late Marion Dusablon.
