Robert K. 'Bobby' Jones Jr.
LOWELL Robert K. 'Bobby' Jones Jr., 63, of Lowell, died after a long battle with cancer, Friday, July 23, 2010 at Lowell General Hospital.
Born March 9, 1947, in Lowell, he was a son of the late Robert K. Jones, and the late Eileen (Higgins) Jones, and attended the local schools.
He resided in the Highlands section of the city, and was employed as a carpet installer locally for many years. He enjoyed many sports including the Silver Mittens, the Golden Gloves, especially the Boston Red Sox, and the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed the outdoors, camping, and was a longtime member of the DLKV.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbie Dion and her partner, Steven Bergstrom of Dracut, Tammie Pelosi of Tyngsboro; two sons, Robert Bell and his partner, Lauren Tarmey of Tyngsboro, and Pvt. Derek Jones stationed in Afghanistan; three sisters, Alice Walsh and her husband, Bob Walsh of Lowell, Mary Eileen Kapala and her partner, Arthur Arsenault of Lowell, and Sheila Hamel and her husband, Stephen of Derry, NH; a brother, Peter Jones and his partner, Patricia Kirby of Lowell; ten grandchildren, one great granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was also the uncle of the late Amy Kapala.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 4 UNTIL 6 P.M. ON MONDAY, JULY 26. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE CALLING HOURS THE FAMILY INVITES EVERYONE TO JOIN THEM AT THE DLKV ON CENTRAL STREET IN LOWELL. HIS BURIAL WILL TAKE PLACE ON THURSDAY JULY 29, PLEASE MEET FOR PROCESSION AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816 AT 8:30 A.M.
