Rita Ann Holland

LOWELL Rita Ann (Rheault) Holland, 90, a lifelong Lowell resident, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014, after a brief illness with her loving family by her side. She was the widow of the late James Holland who passed away in 1980.
A daughter of the late Joseph and the late Bridget (McGrath) Rheault, she was born August 9, 1924, in Lowell, attended Immaculate Conception Grammar School, and graduated from Keith Hall and went on to attend Lowell Commercial College. After graduating from college, she went on to serve in the United States Navy during WWII and was stationed in Washington, DC.
Rita made her lifelong home in Lowell, and was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, where she had received all her Sacraments and had worked for the rectory for many years. More recently, she attended St. Michael's Parish. She also was a member of the League of Catholic Women. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren and in addition she enjoyed shopping and especially enjoyed traveling around the World. She was also a volunteer at D’Youville Manor.
Mrs. Holland worked as a custodian for the Greater Lowell Technical High School and will be fondly remembered by thousands of children who crossed her path in the course of her thirty seven years of service before her retirement.
She is survived by her children, Eileen Callery and her husband, Joseph, of Methuen, Robert Holland and his wife June, of Woodstock, NH, and Maureen Gerrish and her husband, David, of Dracut; her beloved grandchildren, Michael, Benjamin, Hiedi , Kaitlyn, Alex & Jeffrey; her great grandchildren, Laisha, Gabriella, Ryland and Brennan; her sister, Mary Sakowski of Newmarket, NH; and a cousin Jimmy Cummings of Haverhill and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends the Collura Family.
She was also the mother of the late James F. Holland, grandmother of the late Eric Gerrish, and the late James Holland, sister of the late Joseph Rheault, and dear friend of the late Eleanor Collura.

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MICHAEL PARISH, 543 BRIDGE ST., LOWELL, AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
