Richard A. Roberto

LOWELL Richard A. “Dick” Roberto, 90, of Lowell, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Radius Northwood Rehabilitation Center. He was the widower of the late Virginia (Raymond) Roberto who passed away in 2013.
A son of the late Alfred and the late Hazel Roberto, he was born November 13, 1925, in Lowell, attended the local schools including the Butler school before graduating from Lowell High School.
Mr. Roberto served for the United States Navy during World War II until his honorable discharge. He made his home in the Centralville Section of the City, and was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. He worked at Hathaway Shirt Co., Raytheon, and later owned his own package store in Methuen. He was also a Court Officer for the Lowell District Court for ten years before his retirement.
Dick was a past president of The Holy Ghost Society, a member of The 100 Club, and the Lowell Lodge of Elks. He was also a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a past Grand Knight. He also enjoyed flea markets and was a car enthusiast, he especially loved Cadillacs.
He is survived by his nephews and niece of Methuen; cousins, John Vieira and Family of Dorchester, Gloria Palermo and Family of Lowell, Bruce Vieira and Family of Pelham and Arthur Avila and Family of Florida. He is also survived by many friends in the Lowell area including dear friends Richard Masse, Maria Neves and Jason and Brenda Finch and Family. He is predeceased by his best friend John Neves of Lowell. Dick will be remembered by his family in the Azores.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 4 UNTIL 7 P.M. ON TUESDAY.

ON WEDNESDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.

 

HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL ST., LOWELL ON WEDNESDAY AT 10 A.M..

 

BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
