Paul R. Ducharme
"Loving father, disabled veteran"

Paul R. Ducharme, 90, a life-long resident of Lowell and most recently of Nashua, NH, died November 5, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Born, raised and educated in Lowell, he was the son of the late Alida and Laureat Ducharme.

He called Lowell home for 90 years, but ventured beyond its City limits to proudly serve his country in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War, to work at the Boston Naval Shipyard for most of his working life, to help naval ships in distress around the world, and to vacation with family and friends.

He was an active communicant of Holy Family Parish at St. Marie’s Church, serving as its volunteer business manager for many years, a member of the Holy Name Society, and a recipient of the Bishop Cheverus Medal. He enjoyed playing in the cribbage league, golfing in earlier years, woodworking, reading a few newspapers each day, and rooting on his Boston sports teams. He also donated his time to local non-profit organizations and civic causes.

But above all he was a dedicated family man, who treasured times spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his children, Ronald Ducharme of Lowell, Sheryl DiGiovanni of Brockton, Donna Marie St. Louis and her husband, William, of Lowell and Mary Gail McCarthy and her husband, Robert, of Lowell; along with 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Ducharme and Joseph Ducharme and his sister Gertrude Ducharme.

He was married to the late and beloved Therese M. Ducharme for almost 69 years. He was also pre-deceased by his son-in-law, Dominic DiGiovanni, and his grandson, Brian Thellen.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 3 UNTIL 7 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 8.

ON THURSDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT HOLY FAMILY PARISH AT ST. MARIE’S CHURCH, 30 GRAFTON STREET, LOWELL AT 10 A.M.

BURIAL IN ST. JOSEPH CEMETERY.
