Patricia A. ‘Pat’ (Hantzes) Martin
LOWELL Patricia A. ‘Pat’ (Hantzes) Martin, 82, of Lowell, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Martin who passed away in 1998 after 25 years of marriage.
She was born on December 26, 1933 in Lowell and was a daughter of the late Vasilous and the late Eleni (Phillips) Hantzes. She was raised in Lowell where she attended the area schools before attending Ritners Floral Design School in Boston.
Pat resided in the South Lowell section of the city and was a member of the Lawrence Street Methodist Church. She was an independent floral designer in the greater Lowell area, as well as a Gift Shop Associate at Lowell General Hospital (Saints Campus) for over 12 years before her retirement in 2012. Patricia was very outgoing and loved making flower arrangements. Although she had many passions throughout her life, her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.
Pat is survived by her five children, Joseph Furtado and his wife, Anne of Lowell, Deborah Martell and her husband, Steven of Lowell, Helen Clements and her husband, Roy of Florida, Kevin Furtado and his wife, Annemarie of Bradford, and Sandra Usher of Dracut. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michelle Dumont, Eric Furtado, Joseph Furtado Jr., Anthony Furtado, David Salyer, Jessica Furtado, Ashley Furtado, Jacqueline Clements, Nicole Usher-Gibbons and her husband, Richard, Clifford Usher Jr. and his wife, Emma, and Philip Usher; two great grandchildren, Mackenzie Gibbons and Cameron Usher. Patricia also leaves behind her two brothers, Christie Hantzes of Plymouth, and Samuel Hantzes and his wife, Marina of Falmouth; and a sister in law, Stella Hantzes of Chelmsford; and many nieces, nephews, close friends and associates.
Pat was also the former wife of the late Joseph Furtado; sister of the late Theodore Hantzes, the late Georgia White, the late Daisy Hantzes, the late Mary Anderson, the late Joyce Peraskis, and the late Penelope Hantzes.
ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 20, YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS FROM 9 UNTIL 12 NOON. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HER FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT THE LAWRENCE STREET PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH, 1199 LAWRENCE STREET, LOWELL AT 1 P.M. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT LOWELL CEMETERY.
