Nancy M. Barry

LOWELL Nancy M. (Amico) Barry, 64, a lifelong Lowell resident, died peacefully on September 10, 2013 at D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell after battling cancer for many years. She was a the wife of George W. Barry Jr. to whom she was married for twenty-eight years.
Born February 22, 1949, in Lowell, she was a daughter of the late Joseph C. and the late Dorothy L. (Buckle) Amico. She attended Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School. Mrs. Barry had been employed at Hanscom Field, Bedford, MA for the Department of Defense, retiring after 30 years of service. Nancy was an avid Red Sox fan, she enjoyed watching all the games with her husband. She also enjoyed bingo and traveling when she was able. Mrs. Barry was one of the first open heart surgery patients at Boston Children's Hospital at a very young age of 8 years old in 1957.
Mrs. Barry is survived by her loving husband, George W. Barry, Jr.; her brother, Joseph C. Amico, Jr. and his wife, Jill of Tyngsboro; several brother-in-laws, Michael Milinazzo of Dracut, Joseph Barry and his wife, Pat of Waltham, Kenneth Barry and his wife, Debra of Waltham, David Barry of Merrimack, NH, and Marc Barry of Hudson; and several sister-in-laws, Lynan (Barry) Schueler and her husband, Dan of Merrimack, Cheryl (Barry) Athanas of Weymouth, and Mary (Barry) Hancock of Waltham. Mrs. Barry had many nieces and nephews and always held a special place in her heart for her niece, Laurie (Milinazzo) Carney and her beautiful family.
She was also the sister of the late Dorothy A. (Amico) Milinazzo.
The family would like to extend a special "Thanks" to the dedicated Doctors and Nurses at Lowell General Cancer Center, Merrimack Valley Hospice Care and the staff at D'Youville Senior Care.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS FROM 9 A.M. UNTIL 11 A.M. ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HER FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD IN THE FUNERAL HOME DIRECTLY FOLLOWING THE CALLING HOURS AT 11 A.M.. A PROCESSION WILL FOLLOW FOR BURIAL AT ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
