Maurice ‘Moe’ Chandonnet

LOWELL Maurice ‘Moe’ Chandonnet, 84, a lifelong Lowell resident, died unexpectedly, Friday, September 10, 2010, at Saints Medical Center. He was the widower of the late Lillian Chandonnet, who died in 2005.

A son of the late George and the late Marie Ange (Boucher) Chandonnet, he was born February 18, 1926, in Lowell, and educated in the Lowell and Dracut School Systems. Mr. Chandonnet served with the United States Navy during World War II.

After his honorable discharge, he returned to Lowell, making his home in the Highlands Section of the City where he was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church. He was a member of the Veterans’ of Foreign Wars Post 662, Walker Rogers, and was also a member of St. Michael’s Parish Holy Name Society. His hobbies included golfing and bowling, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and his two great grandchildren.

Mr. Chandonnet worked as a weaver and dyer for the Boott Mills at the J. T. Stevens Company before working for Raytheon Corporation in South Lowell. He then worked at the Ford Plant in Somerville and the General Motors Plant in Framingham as an assembler before working as a ceiling installer for K & H Construction for twenty years prior to his retirement. He was also a lifetime member of the Carpenters’ Union Local 67 in Dorchester.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Sweeney of Lowell and Linda Chandonnet of Dracut; his grandchildren, Michael Boldrighini and his wife, Ann, of Lowell, Taryn Normandie and her husband, Steven, of Pelham, NH, and Tammy Sweeney of Nashua, NH; his great grandchildren, Matthew Boldrighini of Lowell and Cheyenne Normandie of Pelham NH; his brother, Leonel Chandonnet and his wife, Jeannette, of Dracut; his sister, Doris Lapointe and her husband, Roland, of Dracut; and several nieces and nephews.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON TUESDAY. ON WEDNESDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 10 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MARGARET’S CHURCH AT 11 A.M. BURIAL IN ST. JOSEPH CEMETERY.
