Mary Constance ‘Connie’ Sousa

DRACUT Mary Constance ‘Connie’ Sousa, 90, of Dracut, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Born September 20, 1920, in Carlisle, she was a daughter of the late Francisco and the late Jesuina (Mendes) Sousa, and moved with her family as an infant to Lowell. She was raised in the Linden Street area of the City and made her home there until moving to Dracut in 1982 where she resided until 2002. She was educated in the Lowell School System.

A communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, she worked as a sample maker for her entire life, retiring after thirty four years of service with the Robert Leonard Dress Shop in Lowell. She enjoyed sewing, cross word puzzles, traveling to Foxwoods Casinos, walking, and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She was also the caretaker of her mother until she passed away in 1989.

She is survived by her brother, Joseph Sousa and his wife, Dolores, of Dracut; her nieces and nephews, Tony Sousa of Hudson, NH, Debbie Isabelle and her husband, Gerry, of Hampstead, NH, Kathy Krupnicki and her husband, Mark, of Sorrento, FL, Mark Sousa of Hudson, NH, Frank Souza and his wife, Debbie of Lowell, MaryAnn Conlin and her husband, Marty, of Viera, FL, Teresa Norton of Melbourne, FL, James Souza and his wife, Janice, of Westport, MA, Judy Monahan of Derry NH, Sandi Strzepek and her husband, Gary, of Gilmanton, NH, and Beverly Gray and her husband, Bill of Dracut; and many grand nieces and grand nephews.

She was also a sister of the late Frank Sousa, the late Matilda Anderson, the late Manuel Sousa and his wife, Rita, the late John Souza and his wife, Evelyn, and aunt of the late Manuel Steven Sousa, the late Jackie Souza, and the late Joey Sousa.
