Beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother
LOWELL Maria Teresa (Henriques) Jose, 95, of Lowell, died after a brief illness Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Lowell General Hospital Saints Campus. She was the wife of the late Bernardo Jose who passed away in 1990 after 50 years of marriage.
Maria was born May 9, 1917, in New Bedford, MA, a daughter of the late Alberto Henriques, and the late Maria Luiza Goncalves. At the age of 3, her family returned to Santa Suzana, Portugal where she spent most of her life. In July of 1966, she returned to the United States and settled in Lowell where her family came to join her.
She resided in Belvidere, and was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. She was employed as a stitcher at Nathan Soloman, Grace Shoe, and Carol Shoe until her retirement in 1978. She enjoyed spending time with her family and displaying family photos.
She is survived by a daughter, Lidia H. Correia and her husband, Silvestre of Lowell; a son, Manuel H. Jose and his wife, Denise of Londonderry; a grandson, Helder H. Correia and his wife, Eileen and their children, Katelyn and Matthew; a granddaughter, Alice C. Hameed and her husband, Kamran and their children, Rayaan, Zayn, and Layla; a granddaughter, Carrie L. Jose; a granddaughter, Melissa L. Barchard and her husband, Mark and their children, Kaylee and Anthony; and two nephews, Joe Luis Francisco and his family, and Francisco Figueiredo and his family.

AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816. HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY'S CHURCH, 893 CENTRAL STREET, LOWELL AT 10 A.M.. BURIAL IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY.
