Maria Odette (Da Cunha Frietas) Silva
LOWELL Maria Odette (Da
Cunha Frietas) Silva, 87, of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Thursday
July 9, 2020 at D’Youville Senior Care. She was the widow of the late
Carlos Periera who passed away in 1973 and the late Manuel daSilva who
passed away in 2002.
A daughter of the late Joao Freitas and the
late Alzira (Cunha), she was born on August 23, 1932 in Graciosa, Azores
Portugal. She was raised and educated in Graciosa and lived most of her
life there before coming to the United States in 1980, settling in
Lowell. She was a longtime resident of Central Street and was a member
of the Holy Ghost Society as well as communicant of St. Anthony’s
Church. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and spending time with her
family. As a devoted Mother, Maria lovingly raised her family and helped
her children raise their own. Her family was her world, by whom she
will be greatly missed. Her children, grandchildren, great
grandchildren, and great great grandchildren will be her legacy.
She
is survived by her children; Luciano Periera and his wife, Lucilene, of
Arkansas, Fibi Silva and her husband, Aldvino, of Terceira, Azores,
Portugal, and Maria Teresa Puga and her husband, John, of Shirley. She
is also survived by her 8 grandchildren, her 11 great grandchildren, and
her 3 great great grandchildren.
She was also the sister of the late Jose Freitas, Alfredo Freitas, and Conceicao Bettencourt.
The Family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at
D’Youville Senior Care for their care and compassion during her time at
D’Youville.

LOWELL, MA 978-458-6816.
HER FUNERAL MASS AND BURIAL WILL BE HELD
PRIVATELY.
