Maria 'Connie' Pires
Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Sister
LOWELL Maria 'Connie' (Areias) Pires, 64, of the Back Central Street neighborhood, died after a brief battle with cancer, Monday, April 8, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Jose Pires who passed away in 1980.
Born October 4, 1948, in Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Jose Areias, and the late Maria Inacia (Lima) Areias, attended the local schools in Terceira, Azores, Portugal.
She came to the United States in 1986, settling in the Back Central Street neighborhood. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. She was employed as a Certified Nurses Assistant for 12 years for Heritage Nursing Care. Connie enjoyed being outside in her yard, tending to her plants and trees. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially on the holidays. As a nanny, she also enjoyed taking care of children.
She is survived by, two daughters, Paula C. Brasil of Lowell, and Elsa C. Alves of Lowell; a son, Paul R. Pires and his wife, Kellie of Dracut; six grandchildren, Derek, Cassandra, Kyle, Troy, Mya, and Abby; and two great grandchildren, Jonah and Emma. She is also survived by her sisters, brothers, and their families in the Lowell area and in the Azores.
