Marcos S. Sodre
Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather
LOWELL Marcos S. Sodre, 58, of Lowell, died Friday, June 12, 2009, at his home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Maria N. (Clarimundo) Sodre, with whom he would have celebrated their Fortieth Wedding Anniversary, September 20, 2009.
A son of the late Manuel and the late Armandina S. (Sousa) Sodre, he was born March 11, 1951, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal. He came to the United States at the age of five, settling with his family in the Back Central Neighborhood. He was a member the Portuguese American Civic League ‘The Reds Club’ and the Portuguese American Center ‘The Blues Club’, as well as a member of the Holy Ghost Society. Marcos enjoyed trips to the Cape and visiting family in Portugal, but his happiest times were spent at home with his family.
Marcos worked as a laboratory stylist for Majilite for over twenty years.
Besides his wife, Maria, he is survived by three children, Vanda Sodre Foster and her husband, James Foster Jr., of North Billerica, Marcos P. Sodre and his wife, Sherri (Horton) Sodre, of Pepperell, Lisa Sodre Scollin and her husband, Edward Scollin, of Lowell, and a grandson, Lucas Edward Sodre Scollin of Lowell; two brothers, Frank Sodre and his wife, Brenda, of Hudson, NH, and John Sodre of Lowell; his sister, Idalina Francisco of Lawrence; his brothers in law, Mario Clarimundo and his wife, Leonia, of Peabody, Joao Serra of Portugal; sisters in law, Natalia Melo and her husband, Valter, Fatima Picanso and her husband, Joao, and Clarinda Clarimundo all of Graciosa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Manuel Santos (Sodre) and the late Jose Sodre, and brother in law of the late Valdemar Clarimundo and the late Guadalupe Serra.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON MONDAY, JUNE 15.


ON TUESDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 8 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.


HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MARY CHURCH CHELMSFORD AT 9 A.M..
