M. Eleanor Donohoe
LOWELL       M. Eleanor Donohoe, 89, of Lowell and Rockport, passed away peacefully at her
home on Saturday, December 6, 2014 with her family at her side, after a period of declining
health. She was the wife of the late Atty. John F. Donohoe, with whom she shared 51 years of
marriage.
She was born in Lowell on April 19, 1925, the daughter of the late Dr. William F. Ryan and the
late Mary (O'Neil) Ryan.  Raised in the Belvidere section of Lowell, she graduated from the
Academy of Notre Dame, Tyngsboro and later from Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. Prior to
her marriage, she was employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company.
She resided in the Highlands section of Lowell for over 60 years and was also a summer resident
of Rockport for most of her life. She was a communicant of St. Margaret Parish in Lowell. Over
the years, she had been a member of the Guild of the Infant Savior, Ladies of Charity of the
former St. John's Hospital, St. Margaret's Sodality, the Paint and Powder Club and had also been
involved with Girl Scouts and Brownies.
She is survived by her children Mary K. Donohoe of Haverhill, Mark Donohoe of Boston, Paul J.
and his wife Marcia Donohoe of Boxford, Neil Donohoe of Boston and Jeff Donohoe of Lowell;
her grandchildren, Adam P. Donohoe of North Andover, Erik J. Donohoe of Stow and Owen R.
Donohoe of Portland, OR; a brother-in-law Leo F. Hannon of Wilmington, DE as well as many
beloved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her four siblings Dr. William F. Ryan, Jr., John P. Ryan, Marion (Ryan)
Hannon, and Catherine (Ryan) Monahan.
The family would like to extend its deepest appreciation to the extraordinary team at Lowell
Registry of Private Duty Nurses and Aides for the exceptional care and support they provided to
Eleanor and her family.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE RESPECTFULLY INVITED TO CALL AT THE McDONOUGH
FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816, FROM 4 P.M.
UNTIL 8 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 10.  THE FUNERAL WILL COMMENCE FROM
THE FUNERAL HOME AT 10:30 A.M. ON THURSDAY, FOLLOWED BY A FUNERAL MASS AT
11:30 A.M. AT ST. MARGARET CHURCH, 374 STEVENS STREET, LOWELL.  BURIAL WILL
BE IN ST. PATRICK CEMETERY, LOWELL.   IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, THOSE WISHING TO DO
