Margaret V. ‘Peg’ King

                     Lowell Senior Center Volunteer

LOWELL      Margaret V. ‘Peg’ (Lane) King, 88, a lifelong Lowell resident, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Willow Manor Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late Paul T. King who passed away in 1978.

     A daughter of the late William H. and the late Catherine (Cox) Lane, she was born June 11, 1920, in Lowell and was educated in the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School.

       She made her lifelong home in Lowell, residing in the Highlands Section of the City for the past fifty nine years, and was a member of the fomer Sacred Heart Parish, and a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church.   She worked as a secretary for AVCO Systems Division for over thirty years, retiring in 1986.  More recently, she worked as a cashier for Market Basket in Chelmsford.   A member of Mount Pleasant Golf Club, she enjoyed golfing, waterskiing, tennis, bowling, and participating in bowling leagues.  Peg also was a well known and liked volunteer at the Lowell Senior Center.

     She is survived by a son, William P. King and his wife, Carol ‘Dolly’ (Greenwood) King, of Lowell; two grand daughters, Melissa King of Lowell, and Ashley King and her companion, Christopher Mullin, of Lowell; a great grandson, Lucas W. Mullin of Lowell; a nephew, Francis Vieira of Tewksbury; and many friends and extended family.

       She was a sister of the late Agnes Vieira.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HER VISITATION 9 UNTIL 10 A.M. ON THURSDAY MORNING, APRIL 23, AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.  

HER FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. MARGARET’S CHURCH AT 11 A.M..
