CHELMSFORD Karen (Cortez) Millette, 61, of Chelmsford, died after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the Community Hospice House, in Merrimack, NH.
Born January 22, 1957, in Lowell, she was the daughter of Ludgerio Cortez, and the late Barbara (Starling) Cortez. She was raised and educated in Lowell and Chelmsford, and graduated from Nashoba Valley Technical High School with the class of 1974.
Karen was a very talented, self taught artist. She was a longtime member and employee of the Westford Franco American Club, where she was currently acting as Treasurer before illness forced her retirement. Prior to that she worked for Sun Microsystems for several years.
Besides her father, Ludgerio Cortez of Chelmsford, she is survived by her former husband, Ronald Millette of Chelmsford , her son Joseph Cortez of Chelmsford and her 2 grandchildren, Travis and Liam. She is also survived by her brother Rick Cortez of Chelmsford, her aunt and uncle, John and Florence Cortez of Lowell, her nieces and nephews, Kristen Dufault of Merrimack, NH, Brandt Cortez of Hudson, NH and Courtney Cortez of Hudson, NH.
She was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Cortez who passed away in 1981.
