William J. ‘Jim’ Auger Jr.

LOWELL William J. ‘Jim’ Auger, Jr., 69, of Lowell, formerly of Haverhill, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013, after a fourteen month battle with brain cancer, with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Mariette M. (Plante) Auger.
A son of the late William J. and the late Mary E. (Denham) Auger, he was born September 18, 1943, in Saugus Ma, and later moved to Newton NH. He was a graduate of Timberlane High School class of 1962 and attended Northern Essex Community College.

In 1967, he enlisted with the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ and Ft. Bliss Texas, before being deployed to Germany. He was assigned to the Infantry Missile Battalion, 67 Artillery where he worked on missile warheads. He was honorably discharged and joined the Army Reserves, 187th Infantry Brigade, 187 Support Battalion, Co (BMED) where he spent fourteen years and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was an avid runner and worked out all the time. He enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing, traveling, outdoor activities and watching sports. He worked for Lucent Technology for over twenty years before retiring, and more recently worked as a security guard for the MITRE Corporation,

In addition to his wife, Mariette, he is survived by his children, James M. Auger of Cambridge, Chris W. Auger and his wife Lauren of Haverhill, Kasie M. Auger of Amherst, Brandon Holmes and his wife, Jamie, of Westford, Michelle Castelli and her husband Dave of Ottawa, IL, and Ryan Auger of Ottawa IL, and one brother, Dave Auger; as well as many extended family members.

In honor of the memory of Jim, a Celebration of Life will be held on January 13, 2013 from 1:00 – 4:00pm at the East End Social Club of Lowell Inc. located on 15 West Fourth Street, in Lowell MA, 01852. You are all cordially invited to join the family and friends for this beautiful memorable event. There will be a private burial with Jim’s family at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH sometime in the Springtime.
