James Anthony Zaker Sr.

LOWELL  - James Anthony Zaker Sr., 77, of Lowell, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the West Roxbury Veterans Hospital.
He was born in Lowell on September 21, 1941 and was a son of the late Anthony Zaker and the late Aneila (Yeschanin) Zaker. He was raised in Lowell where he attended the area schools, graduating high school before joining the United States Navy.
In 1961, Mr. Zaker enlisted with the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge in 1965. After his discharge, he furthered his education, earning his Associates Degree in Electronics in San Diego, CA. After he completed college, he settled in Houston, TX, where he resided for over 30 years and worked as an elevator engineer technician with various elevator companies in the Texas area.

James resided in the Centralville section of Lowell and was a member of the Dracut VFW, the American Legion, and the Polish American Veterans Club of Lowell. He enjoyed studying the stock market and trading stock and bonds. He also enjoyed cars, especially Jeeps, and working on computers. He was very technologically inclined.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer L. Aguilar and her husband, Mark of Castle Rock, CO; a son, James A. Zaker Jr. of Castle Rock, CO; his grandson, Nicholas Aguilar and Amanda Lopez and their daughter, his great granddaughter, Alexis Aguilar; and 2 additional grandsons, Matthew Aguilar and Luke Aguilar, all of Castle Rock, CO.

He is also survived by his sister, Pauline Martin of Chelmsford; his nieces, Christine Martin-Roque and her spouse, Nancy of Chelmsford, Cheryl Martin of Chelmsford, Susan Tebbetts and her husband, Steven of Westford and Donna Bogdzewic and her husband, Dave, of Troy, NH.
James was predeceased by his brother, Richard Zaker.

ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 12, YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS FROM 10:30 A.M. - 11 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD IN THE FUNERAL HOME AT 11 A.M. WITH UNITED STATES NAVY HONORS. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, DONATIONS IN HIS NAME MAY BE MADE TO: THE VETERANS FISHER HOUSE FOUNDATION, 12300 TWINBROOK PARKWAY, SUITE 410, ROCKVILLE, MD 20852.
