Izilda Julia Cunha
LOWELL Izilda Julia (DaSilva) Cunha, 85, of Lowell, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at Lowell General Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved widow of the late Carlos Cunha.
A daughter of the late Marcelino and the late Rita (Dias) DaSilva, she was born May 8, 1929, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, and was raised and educated in that area. In 1966, she came to the United States with her family, settling in Lowell's Back Central Street Area, where she made her home until her death. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of the Holy Ghost Society. Izilda's favorite past time was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Paulo Cunha and his wife, Maria 'Didi', of Lowell, Helena Vitorino of Lowell, Idelberto 'Al' Cunha and his wife, Helen, of Lowell, and Lisa Espinola and her husband, Neogenio 'Gene' of Tyngsboro; a son in law Francisco Cardoso of Tewksbury; her grandchildren, Eric Cunha, Patrick Cunha, Adam Cunha, Melissa Vitorino and her fiance Luis Cruz, Jennifer Vitorino, Erica Vitorino, Bonnie Marimon and her husband, Alex, Jessica Cunha and her fiance, Travis Ray, Sarah Cunha, Cortney Espinola, Kyle Espinola, and Michael Cardoso and his wife, Shannon; her great grandchildren, Alex Cruz, Hailee Cruz, Michael Cardoso Jr., and Ava Cardoso; her siblings, Fernando Silva of Lowell, Idalina Bagaco and her husband, Jose, of Canada, and Teresa Silva and her husband, Virginio, of Lowell; her sisters in law Rosaria Ribeiro in Graciosa, Isabel Silva of Tewksbury and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Olga Cardoso, the late Idalina Cunha, the late Teresa Cunha and the late Fernando Cunha and sister of the late Valdemiro Silva.
The family would like to thank the Staff at Radius Northwood Nursing Home and Lowell General Hospital for their kind and compassionate care bestowed upon Izilda.
