Helen T. (Neary) (Collins) Waddington

LOWELL Helen T. (Neary) (Collins) Waddington, 80, of Dracut, died after a long illness Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Fairhaven Nursing Home. She was the wife of Herbert Waddington for the past 34 years.

Born August 8, 1929, she grew up in Lowell, in the back central nieghborhood, she was a daughter of the late Francis, and the late Helen (Moylan) Neary. She attended St. Peter's School, as well as Lowell High, later in life she continued her education by obtaining her GED.

For most of her life she was a communicant of St. Peter's Church, and later, while living in the highlands she was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church, until she moved to Dracut. She was employed as a department clerk for many years for Grants Department Store in Chelmsford. She enjoyed candle pin bowling, and was a member of the Finnigan's Woman's Bowling League. More recently she enjoyed spending time at the Dracut Senior Center, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Besides her husband, Herbert, she is survived by four children, Michael D. Collins and his wife, Micky of Nashua, NH, Patricia Collins, of Clayton, NC, formally of Lowell, Stephen Collins and his wife, Teresa of Manchester, NH, and Pamela Simpson of Clayton, NC; two stepsons, William Waddington and his wife, Joyce of Manchester, NH, and Patrick Waddington and his wife, Geri of Greensboro, NC; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one step-great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late Henry Collins whom passed away in 1990; sister of the late Marion P. Ramsey, the late Virginia Farrell, the late Frances Purcell, the late James Neary, and the late Robert Neary.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 3. ON THURSDAY, HER FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 8:30 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
