Helen Dorothy Swieneski
"Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother"

DRACUT Helen Dorothy (Avila) Swieneski, 95, of Dracut, formerly of Lowell, died Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Town and Country Nursing Home. She was the widow of the late Julius W. Swieneski who died in 1992.
A daughter of the late John and the late Dorothy (Melo) Avila, she was born August 11, 1917, in Lowell , and was educated in the local schools. She was raised in the Back Central Street neighborhood, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.
Helen was a gifted cook and always enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with them. Throughout the Portuguese Community, she helped as a translator, giving assistance when ever it was needed.
She worked throughout the Lowell Area within the manufacturing industry. Recently, she moved to Dracut to be closer to family
She is survived by her children, William J. Swieneski, David P. Swieneski, and Raymond A. Swieneski all of Dracut; her grandchildren, Sheila, Dorothy, Raymond, Matthew, Melanie, David, Cherilyn, and Rachel; her great grandchildren, Edward, Chelsea, Sabrina, Faith, Ashlyn, Amber, and Aidan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is also a sister of the late Ida Dysczcyk and John Avila.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HER CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON MONDAY, OCT. 1. ON TUESDAY, HER FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 8 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816.
