Gerard J. ‘Gerry’ Ricard

Loving Father and Grandfather

LOWELL Gerard J. ‘Gerry’ Ricard, 79, of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly at home, Wednesday, August 5, 2009. He was the widower of the late Rita M. (Bastien) Ricard.

A son of the late Maxine and the late Rosa (Brule) Ricard, he was born March 31, 1930, in Westford and educated and raised in the Forge Village area of Westford.

Upon his marriage to Rita in 1952, he moved to Lowell where he made his home until his death. He was a communicant of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, and enjoyed dancing, especially polka dancing. An avid Boston Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, and was a member of the CCA Cribbage League.
Gerry worked as a welder for C.G. Sargents in Graniteville, Electro Metals in Chelmsford, N. E. Fab in Littleton, and various other local welding firms throughout the area.

He is survived by two sons, David G. Ricard of Lowell and Ronald L. Ricard and his wife, Carmen, of Lowell; a daughter, Paula L. Silva and her husband, Robert, of Dracut; three grandchildren, Bobby Silva and Jessica Silva of Dracut, and Cassandra Ricard of Lowell; three brothers, Vic Ricard of Westford, George Ricard and his wife, Rita, of Westford, and Bernard Ricard of Westford; four sisters, Claire Dozois of Dracut, Theresa L’Heureux of Taunton, Marie Deloge of Lowell, and Bernadette McCarthy of Lowell; a dear friend, Gabrielle Kinney of Nashua, NH and many nieces and nephews, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was also the brother of the late Ida Finnilla and the late Ollie Pierro.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 3 UNTIL 7 P.M. ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 9. ON MONDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 10 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
