Francisco G. Valadao
DRACUT Francisco G. Valadao, 74, of Dracut, died Thursday, September 15, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Ana (Ferreira) Valadao, with whom he celebrated their Forty Fifth Wedding Anniversary this year.
A son of the late Francisco, and the late Margarida (Ferreira) Valadao, he was born February 19, 1937, in Lajes, Terceira, Azores, and was educated in that area. Mr. Valadao enjoyed working with his hands, and was a Master Mason and Woodworker, known by many as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand, a trait that became most evident following the devasting Earthquake of 1980 on the Island of Terceira, where he whole heartedly gave of his time and craft to assist with the repair and renovation.
In 1986, he moved with his family to the United States, settling in Lowell. Since 1996, he made his home in Dracut, and was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church for more than twenty five years.
In addition to his woodworking and masonry work, he had also worked for Prince Macaroni.
Besides his loving wife, Ana, he is survived by three children, Maria Sousa and her husband, Jose, of Dracut, Francisco Valadao and his wife, Angela, of Haverhill, and Ana Beauregard and her husband, Daniel, of Dracut; six grandchildren, Jessica Sousa, Justin Sousa, Ruben Valadao, Roy Valadao, Abigail Beauregard, and Alexandria Beauregard; his sister, Beatrize Gaspar and her husband, Daniel, of Sao Braz, Terceira, Azores.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 7 P.M. ON SUNDAY, SEPT. 18. ON TUESDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 8 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY CHURCH AT 9 A.M.. BURIAL IN NEW BOSTON CEMETERY, DRACUT.
