Eurico M. Silva

LOWELL        Eurico M. Silva, 75, of Lowell, died unexpectedly Monday, February 2, 2009 at  Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of Maria L. (Espinola DaSilva) Cunha.

     Born January 10, 1934, in Portugal, he was a son of the late Manuel Sousa DaSilva, and the late Luzia (Candida) DaSilva. He was born and raised in Graciosa Azores Portugal, where he attended local schools before moving to the United States to become established in 1968. In March of 1970, he returned to Graciosa to bring his family to the United States.

     He resided in the Central Street area, and was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church.  He worked in various area shoe factories, on many area construction projects, and more recently he was employed as a clerk at The Leo Roy Parking Garage on Market Street for over ten years. He was a former member of the Portuguese American Center, and was involved in folk dancing with the Portuguese American Senior Center.

     Besides his wife, Maria, he is survived by a son, Eurico Silva and his companion Diane Racicot, of Lowell; a daughter, Fernanda Soares and her husband Peter, of Pelham, NH; two grandchildren, Sean Soares and Kayla Soares, both of Pelham, NH; two brothers, Antonio Silva and his wife Odete, of Graciosa, and Manuel Silva and his wife Leonilde, of Tewksbury; two sisters, Mary Grout, of Tyngsboro, and Licilia Silva and her husband John, of Tewksbury; and many nieces and nephews.

     He was also the father of the late Duarte R. Silva who passed away in 2003; and brother of the late Isalino Silva, Vital Silva, and Januario Silva.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY.  

ON THURSDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 10:30 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL (978 OR 800) 458-6816. 

HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY'S CHURCH AT 12 NOON.
