Edward J. Glancy
World War II Veteran
Edward J. Glancy, 85, of Dracut, died October 31, 2008, at Fairhaven Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Doris R. (Allard) Glancy and the last surviving member of his family.
Born June 3, 1923, in Lowell, he was a son of the late James and the late Delia (Cox) Glancy, attended the local schools, and Lowell Trade High School. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, serving as a Corporal in the South Pacific.
Mr. Glancy resided on Brick Kiln Road for more than thirty one years, before making his home in Dracut, and was a communicant of Sacred Heart and St. Patrick's Church. He had been employed in shipping and receiving for Jerguson Gage and Valve in Burlington for twenty eight years until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Doris, with whom he celebrated their Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary last year, he is survived by five daughters and four sons in law, Jane A. Michaels of West Palm Beach, Florida, Ann T. Gucwa and her husband, Robert, of Daytona, FL, Margaret A. O’Brien and her husband, Nelson, of Haverhill, Theresa R. Pastman and her husband, Steven, of Nashua, NH, and Kathleen M. Morse and her husband, Donald, of Barrington, NH; nine grandchildren Michelle Chapman, Jamie Patterson, Justin Michaels, Joshua Michaels, Brad Hurley, Nicole Hurley, Stephanie Breton, Stacey Morse, and Donald Morse, Jr.; four great grandchildren, Jonathan, Myakala, Brianna, and Roman; brothers and sisters in law, Rudolphe Allard of Dracut, Richard A. and Sylvia Allard of East Chelmsford, and Lucianne Normmand and her husband, Richard, of York, ME of; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late John Glancy, Elizabeth Riley, Esther Kane, Christina Dunn, Gertrude Tangney, and the late Walter Glancy and grandfather of the late Jason Gucwa.


AT HIS REQUEST, CALLING HOURS WERE OMITTED AND CREMATION TOOK PLACE PRIVATELY.

RELATIVES AND FRIENDS ARE RESPECTFULLY INVITED TO HIS MEMORIAL MASS ON THURSDAY AT 11 A.M. AT ST. PATRICK'S CHURCH.
