Dionisio Dos Reis
LOWELL Dionisio Dos Reis, 78, of Lowell, died Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the Palm Center after a brief illness. He was the husband of Maria O. (Sousa) Reis with whom he celebrated their fifty fifth Wedding Anniversary this year.
A son of the late Manuel and the late Maria Reis, he was born August 29, 1936, in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal and was educated in that area. In 1967 he came to the United States with his family, settling in Lowell.
A communicant of St. Anthony’s Church, he made his home in the Pawtucketville Section of the City. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Society and the Portuguese American Center. He enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family as well as visits from his grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening, tending to his grape vines and making his own red wine.
Mr. Dos Reis worked for more than fifteen years for Bournival Chrysler Plymouth in building maintenance before his retirement.
Besides his wife, Maria, he is survived by his son, Duarte S. Reis and his fiancee, Naima Cunha, of Hudson, NH; his daughter, Lusia A. Rainha and her husband, Henrique, of Pelham, NH; his grandchildren, Shannon N. Reis of Pelham, NH, Kendra N. Godfroy and her husband, Jonathan, of Pelham, NH, and Zachary M. Rainha of Pelham, NH; his great grandchildren, Julian R. Reis and Ava M. Godfroy both of Pelham; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was also a brother of the late Emma Silva, the late Maria Silva, and the late Guadalupe Da Silva, and the late Lucilia Silva.
YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 2. ON SATURDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816.
