Derek John Lang
LOWELL Derek John Lang, 53, of Lowell, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Lowell General Hospital, Saints Campus, surrounded by his family and friends after an extended battle with ALS.
Born May 10, 1962, in Somerville, he was the son of Charles H. and Shirley M (MacDonald) Lang. Derek was a graduate of Burlington High School, Class of 1980. Following High School, he worked for several years as a landscaper.
Derek had many passions in life including, riding his bicycle, his cats, fishing, and all kinds of music. He also enjoyed cars, motorcycles, spending time with his family and friends, and of course, zombies.
He was predeceased by his father, Charles and his wife, Lisa (Paul) Lang, and is survived by his mother, Shirley; his children, William Heydecker-Lang, Connor Lang, and Colleen Scholefield; his sister, Elizabeth S. Lang; his brothers, Charles R. Lang, Harold A. Lang and his wife, Marcia A. Lang; a stepson, Christopher Paul; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by his fiance, Angela Thomas and her four sons and four grandchildren, whom Derek was very close to and loved dearly.
