Agnes M. Carroll
IPSWICH/LOWELL Agnes M. (Johnston) Carroll, 92, wife of the late Raymond Colman Carroll, died unexpectedly Jan. 1, in Beverly Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born In Lowell on July 3, 1915, she was the daughter of the late William W. and Hilda (Rynning) Johnston.
Born and raised in Lowell, she attended Lowell public schools. Later she studied Nursing at the former St. John's Hospital in Lowell. Mrs. Carroll grauduated from the nursing program in the Class of 1938 and became a Registered Nurse at the hospital. She spent most of her career as a Pediatric Nurse. For the last 7 to 10 years of her career, she was the head Nurse at the Delaney Nursing home in Lowell. Mrs. Carroll was a resident of Lowell for most of her life. She was a lifelong summer resident of Little Neck in Ipswich. For the past 5 years, she had been a full time resident of Cable Gardens in Ipswich. She loved the beach and would spend hours a day there. Mrs. Carroll was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Raymond, on Oct. 9, 2003.
She is survived by 3 sons, William Johnston Carroll and his wife, Elaine, of Ft. Myers, FL, Raymond Colman Carroll, Jr., of Raleigh, NC, and Peter Carroll and his wife, Gael, of Ipswich; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Steffens and her husband, David, of Monroe, CT, Meredith Geisser and her husband, John, of Rensslaer, NY, Ryan Carroll of Newburyport, Benjamin Carroll, a student studying in Montpelier, VT, and Christopher Carroll of Ipswich; 4 great grandchildren, Emily and Harrison Steffens, and Emma and Sara Beth Geisser; and a niece, Joyce Moreau of Hollis, NH.
Mrs. Carroll was also predeceased by her daughter in law, the late Sara Beth Carroll, and her 2 brothers, the late Donald Johnston and his wife, Beatrice, and the late William Wilson Johnston.
