Arthur Nobrega

"Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather"

DERRY, NH Arthur Nobrega, 79, of Derry, formerly of Nashua, Dracut and Lowell died on August 1, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side. He was the husband of Doris (Dufresne) Nobrega, for the past 54 years.

Born July 25, 1931 in Lowell, he was a son of the late Joseph and the late Eliza (Frietas) Nobrega. He grew up and was educated in Chelmsford.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, and he worked as a garment cutter and pattern maker for the Lowell Lingerie Company. He also worked briefly for the Malden Mills and Derry Auto Parts making deliveries.

He enjoyed gardening, playing the guitar, singing, taking long drives, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his good sense of humor. He was also an avid fan of the Patriots and the Red Sox.

Besides his wife, Doris, he is survived by his three children, Doris Ann Cote and her husband Ted of Hudson, NH, Arthur J. Nobrega and his wife Cheryl of Salem, NH, Robin M. Saling and her husband Joseph of Derry, NH; a sister Isabelle Boyle of Lowell, a brother in law Arthur Dufresne of Chelmsford. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Gregory, Chris, Nick, Jennifer, Kylie, and Maxwell, and many close relatives and friends.

He was the brother of the late Peter Nobrega, and the late Alice Silva, and the late Jerry Nobrega.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HIS CALLING HOURS 4 UNTIL 8 P.M. ON FRIDAY. ON SATURDAY, HIS FUNERAL WILL BEGIN AT 9 A.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL 978-458-6816. HIS FUNERAL MASS WILL BE OFFERED AT ST. ANTHONY'S CHURCH AT 10 A.M. BURIAL IN ST. JOSEPH'S CEMETERY.
