Anthony Yannece

CHELMSFORD Anthony J. Yannece, 90, of Chelmsford, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013, after a brief illness at Lowell General Hospital, with his companion, Claire Lucas, and his loved ones by his side. He was the husband of the late Fleurette (Dubois) Yannece who passed away March 2, 1999.

Born May 4, 1923, in Lowell, he was a son of the late Nicholas and the late Mary (Ruggerio) Yannece, and was educated in the Lowell Schools.

Mr. Yannece served three years with the United States Army, 112 General Hospital, during World War II, serving one year overseas, receiving the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal.

After his honorable discharge, he returned to make his home in Chelmsford and was a communicant of St. Margaret’s Church. Mr. Yannece bowled with the St. Margaret’s League for thirty five years, was a member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks, B.P.O.E. #2310. He also volunteered at the Chelmsford Senior Center, and loved all sports, organizing the Howard AC Softball Team in the late 1940’s. He enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, the Lowell Spinners, as well as the New England Patriots, was an avid Bingo player, and also loved to travel.

He worked for the Massachusetts Highway Department for over thirty years before his retirement.
Anthony will be remembered as a very kind, thoughtful, loving and generous person, and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his sister, Angelina P. Kaczmarski of Lowell; his nieces, Dr. Mary Ann Kaczmarski and her husband, Jerry Freeman, of Los Angeles, CA, Phyllis Kaczmarski and her companion, Michael Jackson, of Olympia, WA, and Karen Kaczmarski of Lowell; his grand niece, Kym E. Dyberg of Lacey, Washington; his companion Claire Lucas of Chelmsford; as well as his many friends and acquaintances.

He was also a brother late Philomena A. Yannece, and Vito Yannece and the brother in law of late John P. Kaczmarski, and the late Esther (Fawcett) Yannece, and the late Arthur and Nowella Dubois, and cousin of the late Violet Dubois.
