Alejandrina ‘Alex’ Perez

LOWELL        Alejandrina ‘Alex’ Perez, 81, of Lowell, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington with her beloved family by her side.

She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and was a daughter of the late Maldonio David Perez and the late Ramona (Padilla) Perez. She was raised in Ponce, where she attended the area schools including Ponce High School. In the 1950’s she came to the United States to raise her family. She originally arrived in Chicago, then settled in New York where she lived most of her life, before eventually arriving in Lowell.

Alex was employed as a machine operator at the Malden Mills for 10 years before illness forced her retirement in July of 2008. She loved playing bingo and slot machines. She also enjoyed fishing, crocheting, sewing, and watching her ‘novelas’. 

She is survived by her seven children, Aida Agosto and her husband, Osvaldo Amarat of Bronx, NY, Joseph Agosto of Bronx, NY, Seth Agosto of Kansas, Cindy Agosto and her husband, Carlos Colon of Shirley, Bernadette Agosto of Dracut, Maria Agosto and her husband, Enrique Rodriguez of North Carolina, and Noel Agosto and his wife, Laura of Kansas. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and her brother in Puerto Rico and her two sisters in Lowell.

She was predeceased by her husband, the late Jose Lino Agosto; her longtime companion, Luis Soto with whom she shared her life for 46 years; and her daughter, Magdalena Agosto.

           ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 6, YOU ARE INVITED TO HER MEMORIAL VISITATION FROM 5 UNTIL 7 P.M. AT THE MCDONOUGH FUNERAL HOME, 14 HIGHLAND STREET, LOWELL, 978-458-6816.

HER FUNERAL SERVICE WILL TAKE PLACE WEDNESDAY IN THE FUNERAL HOME, FOLLOWING THE VISITATION AT 7 P.M.. 

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, DONATIONS IN HER NAME MAY BE MADE TO THE AMERICAN DIABETES ASSOCIATION, P.O. BOX 15826, ARLINGTON, VA 22215.
